Christmas Drinks. Can it really be that time again already? We asked some of our customers for their styling tips for 1) after-work day-to-night switch ups for work drinks, and 2) subtle but stand out ideas for those weekend invitations where you can’t quite figure out if you’ll find your hostess in full on gown or jeans and a jumper.
The After Work Drinks
When we asked some of our regular customers about how they approach after work Christmas / Holiday parties in both London and New York the answers were very similar and usually started with tailoring: “Take a classic, monochrome work suit, then switch your shirt for a silk tank, add a higher heel, and top off the look with an RSM headband”. The Weekend Evening Holiday Mystery Party
This conundrum comes courtesy of a regular customer in New York, who has the repeated experience of receiving holiday drinks party invitations that are severely lacking in sartorial detail, and when asking for a dress code, is kept mysteriously lacking in detail, ongoing, every year, “or else I get strange answers like ‘dress holiday spirit!’ and ‘city casual’. What are these things???!!!” Not being a reindeer jumper sort of person, her failsafe is an RSM comb. “I have long hair, I invest in a blast of winter highlights, and I sweep up one side with one of Rachel’s combs, then where whatever I feel like with some party shoes (which inevitably I’m asked to remove at the door). Rachel has come to the rescue of many a New York party for me.”
