Rachel’s Tips for Choosing a Hat
My Tips for Choosing a Hat
If you can’t come by the boutique, and you are looking for advice choosing a hat for Ascot, or maybe a wedding, or other event this summer, here are some useful tips to help.
When planning your look you can either:
1) Start with the hat – Choose a statement piece and pair it with a simple dress in one of its colours for a chic, effortless ensemble.
or
2) Start with the outfit – Select your dress first, then find the perfect hat to complement its shape, colour, and overall aesthetic.
Dress Codes
Ascot specifically, if you’ll be heading to the Royal Enclosure, remember that women need to wear a hat or substantial headpiece with a base diameter of at least 4 inches (10 cm) covering the crown of the head. We offer a wide range of styles that meet this requirement, including wide brims, cocktail hats, pillboxes, and asymmetrical designs worn on headbands.
Choosing a hat to suit your Face Shape
When it comes to styles that will suit you; oval or long faces suit wide-brim hats, as these can balance proportions. Round faces look great with a structured headpiece or pillbox shape to help elongate the face, and petite faces need to avoid oversized hats, as these can overwhelm your features.
